Interim & Contract Delivery
I work as an independent consultant, taking on interim programme and project management roles on a contract basis. Engagements tend to be programme recovery, complex integrations, and digital transformation work that's gone sideways — fifteen years of it, across organisations like Asda, Morrisons, the Premier League and KPMG.
What this covers
Interim delivery means stepping into an existing programme or project management role — not observing from the outside, but taking direct ownership of delivery, reporting, and the relationship with the sponsor for the length of the contract. It's a fit when an organisation needs senior delivery capability now, for a defined period, rather than a permanent hire or a generalist consulting engagement.
This overlaps with programme recovery work often enough that the two aren't always separate engagements — a programme that needs recovering usually also needs someone to actually run it while it's being fixed.
What the engagement looks like
- Embedded, not advisory. I take on the actual delivery role — the reporting lines, the stakeholder relationships, the accountability for the programme — rather than sitting alongside it as an advisor.
- Defined length, clear handover. Contract engagements have a start and an end. Part of the job is leaving the programme, and the team running it, in a state that doesn't need me to still be there.
- UK-based, contract availability now. I'm currently taking on new contract work.
